02

Communication Delay

t = d/c

Signals cannot propagate faster than the speed of light in vacuum. Interplanetary missions therefore experience communication latency that can make direct interactive control impossible.

03

Optical Communication

Laser communications can provide narrow, high-bandwidth links but impose demanding pointing, acquisition, atmospheric, and receiver requirements.
