01

Control Architectures

  • PLC-based systems are common in discrete machine automation.
  • DCS architectures distribute control functions throughout process plants.
  • Motion controllers coordinate high-performance mechanical motion.
  • Embedded controllers integrate computation directly into products.
  • Supervisory systems coordinate and visualize lower-level controllers.

Process Control

Process control regulates variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, concentration, speed, and composition.

Because process variables often evolve continuously and interact dynamically, control design requires appropriate instrumentation, process models, feedback loops, constraints, and operating procedures.
