01

Founding Team

Founder relationships matter because early companies amplify small disagreements into strategic and operational consequences.

  • Shared ambition.
  • Complementary capabilities.
  • Trust.
  • Communication.
  • Clear decision authority.
  • Compatible risk tolerance.
  • Agreement on long-term objectives.

02

Hiring

Early hiring should solve specific capability bottlenecks rather than merely increase headcount.

  • Define the problem the hire must solve.
  • Specify measurable ownership.
  • Assess ability rather than credentials alone.
  • Prefer people capable of independent execution.
  • Keep organizational layers minimal early.

03

Organizational Scaling

Processes and management structures should emerge when coordination costs justify them. Hiring ahead of product-market fit can increase burn while making iteration slower.
