Power Electronics

Electronic conversion and control of electrical power using semiconductor switching devices.

01

Power Conversion

  • Buck converters reduce voltage.
  • Boost converters increase voltage.
  • Buck-boost converters provide wider conversion ranges.
  • Inverters convert DC into controlled AC.
  • Rectifiers convert AC into DC.

02

Switching

Power converters use semiconductor switches to control energy transfer efficiently. Real switches have finite conduction and switching losses, so efficiency and thermal design remain central considerations.

03

Battery Systems

Battery-powered systems require charging control, state estimation, protection, thermal management, current limits, and power budgeting.
